This programme is aimed at parents who are new to Therapeutic Parenting and looking for a detailed insight into the subject.
Who is the Therapeutic Parenting Programme for?
The Therapeutic Parenting programme is aimed at all parents, and can be effective in parenting children with varying needs. It is also aimed at Supporting Professionals who work with children and their families.
What will be covered on the course?
The programme includes the following topics:
Understanding the Child.
Understanding Therapeutic Parenting.
Initial Therapeutic Parenting Strategies.
Advanced Therapeutic Parenting Strategies.
Working with others (to support the child).
What can I achieve by attending the course?
Parents and Supporting Professionals will learn the core principles of Therapeutic Parenting. They will gain an underpinning knowledge of Therapeutic Parenting and will be able to implement strategies learnt from the programme, in order to support their child into adulthood.
There is opportunity to top-up the qualification to the Advanced Therapeutic Parenting Programme/ Diploma in Therapeutic Parenting.
How long is the course and where is it held?
The course is mainly online - learners are also required to attend a Therapeutic Parenting support group regularly throughout the programme. In addition to this learners have support from a programme facilitator and peer support for their studies, through an online forum.
The course can be studied over 1 year which is approximately 4 hours of study per week.
Progression Opportunity to top-up the qualification to the Advanced Therapeutic Parenting Programme/ Diploma in Therapeutic Parenting.
How much does it cost?
£135 per unit or £70 per month for 12 months.
Adoption Support Funding may be available for Therapeutic Parenting programmes, check with your social worker to explore this funding avenue.
